Freissinières

Freissinières, a valley refuge as close as possible to nature, a rich and tumultuous history. It is one of the longest suspended valleys in the Alpine arc (20 km).
Freissinières

About

The Valley welcomes you all year round to discover its wonders (the high lakes of Palluel and Faravel, Lake Lauzes, its summer pastures, Lake Fangeas), its various activities (mountain biking, via ferrata, fishing, climbing, hiking, trail, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing...) and all its splendours sometimes hidden.

25 km from Briançon, Freissinières is endowed with a typical landscape, with a glacial valley rising from 1100 m at the threshold of Pallon, culminating at 2 700 m at the Col de Freissinières, and surrounded by many peaks of more than 3000 m (Tête de Vautisse, Grand Pinier, Pic de Rochelaire,...).

The municipality extends into a peripheral and central area of the Parc National des Écrins where Dormillouse is the only inhabited hamlet.

The visit of Dormillouse is well worth seeing at least once, not without effort because it is the only village that will be accessible only on foot. The generous beauty of Dormillouse takes the breath away from all lovers of authenticity and serenity with an unobstructed view. In 1825, this small village also housed a École Normale in the house of the famous pastor Félix Neff.
