Description

This long trip around Paladru Lake from Charavines is ideal for Ebikes.
It explores a wealth of local heritage, visits the east bank of the lake and offers some remarkable views. The itinerary is in the process of being waymarked

Starting out from Charavines, the first pedal strokes of this circuit will quickly take you to the Bois d'Amour, where you can enjoy a path through the undergrowth beside the lake. If you feel like it, treat yourself to a contemplative break on the platform at the bottom of the descent, and perhaps catch a glimpse of the beautiful great crested grebe before its dive....
Continue on the path and then on the greenway, in complete safety, to the hamlet of La Véronnière, where the recreation area of the same name offers the ideal spot for a picnic break. Or continue a little further along the voie verte before leaving it and taking the road again to Saint-Pierre de Paladru, where you cross the Courbon, one of the 2 tributaries of the lake, which joins it at the Véronnière marsh.
A climb then awaits you, taking you to the heights of St-Pierre de Paladru, where the panorama unfolds. Take a break to admire Mont Blanc and the Bauges, Chartreuse and Belledonne Massifs.
The rest of the itinerary takes you past the Etang du Vivier to the village of Valencogne, through which you finally join the bucolic valley of the Ruisseau du Pin.
You then pass through the village of Le Pin, where you can stop off at a café or bakery, then through the hamlet of Chassigneux to the famous Grange Dîmière.
This former outbuilding of the Carthusian monastery of La Sylve Bénite dates back to 1655, and is now an ideal setting for exhibitions of contemporary ceramic sculptures every summer.
After a short climb up to the former monastery of the Chartreux de la Sylve Bénite, the route continues on a comfortable dirt track to the main road, which we invite you to cross carefully.
You'll reach the Oyeu plateau at Le Verney, before descending to Charavines via a hairpin bend and crossing the wooded Combettes valley.
On your return to the starting point, take advantage of the many shops, services and restaurants to extend this beautiful walk!
