About

Constructed in 1910-1911 for the "tacot" rail line -a line connecting Villefranche-sur-Saône and Cluny- to operate, the Viaduc du Châtelard was exploited for 25 years only. It has now become a pleasant place for walks and the high point of a 8 km long hiking trail crossing Monsols, called "circuit du Viaduc". It rises above the Monsols' forests with its 27 m height and its 11 arches (which have a 12 m wide opening each).
