Description

Magnificent VKm between forest and open spaces with, as a reward, at the top of Pic Herrana, one of the most beautiful panorama of Ossal!

A vertical kilometre on which the difficulties crescendo on the plane of the slope.

A first part in a false rising flat will put you on your feet before attacking a first ascent in the forest. A flatter middle section will allow you to catch your breath. A second ascent over the summer pastures will take you to the Gare du Train d'Artouste before attacking the last rapaillon leading to the summit of the Pic d'Herrana.

Itinerary information :

The departure is located in front of the reception base.
The route leaves the 4x4 track at the first chicane, a few hundred metres after the start. The path on the left is slightly downhill.
Further up, the path falls back onto the track. The continuation of the single is 2 metres further on, still in the forest.
At the foot of the gondola lift, the route goes around the building on the right.
Then pass to the left of the conveyor belt and continue straight on to the summit of Herrana (2068 m).

Practical information:

The descent can be done by gondola lift. Please make sure to take your ticket before leaving on the KMV. To do so, go to the Billetterie du Train d'Artouste located on the Place de Fabrèges.
The Trail Card, available at the Welcome Centre, allows you to take advantage of special rates to access the gondola descent.

The definition of the Vertical Kilometre: 1,000 metres of vertical drop over the shortest possible distance.

Through our practice, it is essential to respect the work of the farmers, other operators and owners who welcome us on their land:

So that the herds do not escape, close all the electric fences well and do not damage them!

Also, do not disturb the herds, greet the people you meet with a friendly "hello", and of course bring back all your rubbish! Do not cut routes through the meadows, and do not picnic either!
